It would have made a lovely ending to II actually I'd even ditch Clark's return to the diner for that ending! The editor should not have fallen into that trap. Selutron's proposed ending for his version of superman II, doesn't revolve either time travel or the magic kiss. Indeed, I recall a video once doing the rounds that mocked his excessive use of cross dissolve transitions and looping the same musical cue in the so-called Donner cut.
